Hot Times with Exxon
A new report from the Union of Concerned Scientists shows how Exxon Mobil has funneled nearly $16 million to a network of 43 organizations that have clouded public understanding of global warming and delayed action on the issue. "Many of the tactics, and even some of the same organizations and actors used by Exxon Mobil to mislead the public, draw upon the tobacco industry’s 40-year disinformation campaign," the report states. An ice shelf larger than Manhattan has broken away from Canada’s northernmost shore, while forecasters expect that 2007 will be the warmest year on record.
