We've been busy at Congresspedia updating all our information for the rollover from the 109th to the 110th Congress. The new chairs and members of the Senate committees have all been released and are fully updated in both the member of Congress profiles and on the committee pages. Only some House committees have been released, but we expect the rest (along with the memberships of the House and Senate subcommittees) to be announced as soon as Congress gets back to Washington in the new year.
In the meantime, there will be little to no postings on the Congresspedia blog, though we'll continue to keep an eye on the wiki to keep things fair, accurate and non-partisan (as always). Here are some of the most recent additions:
- Rep. Virgil Goode (R-Va.) accidentally sent a letter to a less-than-sympathetic constituent reacting to the election of Muslim Representative-elect Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) with, among other statements, his "fear that in the next century we will have many more Muslims in the United States."
- Rep. Silvestre Reyes (D-Texas), the incoming chair of the House intelligence committee, failed a national security reporter's quiz on the ideological makeup of Hezbollah and al Qaeda.
- The incoming Democratic majority of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation is less than pleased about President Bush's recess appointment of conservative Warren Bell to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
