Agreed. I DO work for Whole Foods Market(but I am not the person you just responded to). They present solidly to the public as a company that cares about the quality of their product. On the inside, we are told what to say regarding high-traffic controversial topics and prohibited to discuss "with the public" topics that could compromise corporate stature.

In defense, some stores dependent upon region, are capable of supporting local organic farms and do so with diligence. That said,in the end, WFM is corporate and corporate supports bottomline. And that folks, is the bottom line.

The only way to truly support organic, non-GMO crops is to frequent non-corporate mom and pop organic markets and/or to get back to your food source and grow your own. Save your seeds. Nurture your soil. Keep your water clean. Nature can and will restore itself.

I'm not sure that the costs of curing cancer exceed those of manufacturing consent. In 2005 roughly $75 billion was spent on direct medical costs for cancer treatment. Advertising costs for the same year were $270 billion. These are gross costs that do not take into account spending such as HBGary or private grants to support research, but they are a good indicator of our society's priorities.

The cost of manufactured consent is also inherently a regressive tax. The cost of advertising is always passed on in the costs of goods like a sales tax. Thanks to concentrated media ownership and the obsolete broadcast model of communications, the public has little say in how advertising money is spent and what messages it will promote.

The Gov's remarks to Koch were exactly what I would expect him to respond to a large donor who you certainly would not want to alienate.
When that "large donor" has taken you up to the top of a high mountain and shown you the kingdoms of the world and their glory, we're beyond "not wanting to alienate" and into "falling down and worshiping." If Walker should hit the circuit to promote an inspiring book about how he overcame hardship in his early life to further his great vision for America -- remember, you heard it here first. ;-)

New Orleans spends 1.5 million each year cleaning up after Mardi Gras. I'm not sure how anyone could compare a single building to entire historic districts and come out thinking the building would cost more than four times what a city does. Perhaps the people in Wisconsin should organize a parade to show that every segment of society is opposed to what the Governor proposes. -twitter

They just don't publicize that fact. One such "union" of big employers is the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, whose agenda, well on its way to being realized, includes just about everything in your wish list. There are other less formal ones, resulting from poor enforcement of the anti-trust laws. If they get their way, shoes for either foot may well become something not to take for granted.
