If Wisconsin legislatures are going to try and govern for another state than people from other states can take an interest. I'm from Oshkosh Wisconsin ans I say recall every legislature member that left the state and wasn't doing their job.
I read your post and my hear sank, what they are doing to the children is sinister. In my school they have ROTC and they treat the reps like kings. The kids get stuff, rewards, jackets, and the subtle push to militarize them is on. I am not comfortable with armed forces dily in the building like they belong. Its a poor urban school and I wonder if the wealthier districts would tolerate it. Friends who live in those wealthier, say hell no.
I'm from Ohio, wish we were as organized but are getting there. I am over 50, but proud to be an American when I see average, working people, pushing back and demanding the respect they are long overdue. I only wish this movement rose up earlier, maybe two years ago when wall street starting stealing money in a big way. As individuals you may not realize it, but Wisconsin the rest of us are watching, learning and very proud. When phony gasbags like joe plumber and rupert murdoch supported palin, start billowing it embarasses me to even watch them. I pray there days are numbered and they fade away into the sunset. My only concern now, is that the corps are going to slam or mess with you tube, live stream and similar outlets. Keep the faith, you are making history. Thank you.
Speaking for truth so that we work with all the facts as anyone of us can bring to the table, let me bring these facts to the table.
1) All government and taxing authorities in the state exist from the power of laws as passed by the state legislature and signed by the Governor, or through ballot initiatives or referendums. The State Constitution gives these powers to the Legislature, Governor and the People. These are incontrovertible facts of how lower governing entities come into existence and maintain their existence within our state.
2) The State Constitution confers power of removal upon the Governor of any elected or appointed official, except legislative (city councils?) or judicial, for gross neglect, etc. See Article V, Section 10.
3) Home rule cities may levy taxes. Revenue sharing was instituted in exchange for not taxing; but as I understand it, home rule cities can levy taxes. I raise this last point because if cities take a hit from revenue sharing, then they may be in a position to levy a tax or raise a current tax or some other set of budget and fiscal changes.
I'm personally most concerned about the conditions upon which a financial review may be initiated. The wording in the bills will no doubt be used for political purposes and not financial – by any party in power.
Michigan residents most certainly can initiate a referendum on this legislation when it passes, or they can pursue a constitutional initiative to disallow or curtail this type of legislative and executive branch power.
