I'm Responsible, if I Do Say So Myself [1]

The environmental group Friends of the Earth will hold "a mock awards ceremony aimed at exposing the green spin and corporate social responsibility [3] failings of UK companies." CSR is big business; a recent APCO Worldwide [4] survey of more than 400 people in 10 countries found that [5] "corporate social responsibility initiatives are influential on consumer purchase habits." CSR efforts caused more than 70% of respondents to buy a company's products or services, while negative reports led 60% to boycott companies. APCO suggests companies "shape the opinion environment [6] through their own communications, as opposed to fearing the impact of information from external [independent] organizations."
