Our wrap-up of Tuesday’s primary elections is pretty hefty, so we've split it into three parts; you can find results from Minnesota [4] and Wisconsin [5] in this post. Remember, we have a full list of candidates after the break, including the professions of all the challengers. You can find the candidates from New England at the Delaware [6], New Hampshire [7], Rhode Island [8] and Vermont [9] portals and at the New England wrap up [10], and mid-Atlantic candidates at the District of Columbia [11] and New York [12] portals and at the mid-Atlantic wrap up [13].

Minnesota [4]
Al Franken [14] (D) and Sen. Norm Coleman [15] (R) easily dispatched the competition in their respective parties’ primary elections on Tuesday. Coleman, at one time behind Franken in polling, has opened a lead over the actor/comedian. Both candidates are performing well on the fundraising front, in what has become a high-visibility contest on the national level. A half-dozen candidates from other parties will join Coleman and Franken on the November ballot.

Unopposed in their respective primaries, Democrat Jigar Ashwin Madia [16] and Republican Erik Paulsen [17] are preparing for the general election in Minnesota’s 3rd congressional district. Incumbent Rep. Jim Ramstad [18] (R) is retiring at the end of the 110th Congress.

There are a couple of freshman incumbents in Minnesota being targeted by the opposition. In CD-01, Republican Brian Davis [19] is challenging Rep. Timothy Walz [20] (D). Meanwhile, Rep. Michele Bachmann [21] (R) is trying to hold off a Elwyn Tinklenberg [22] (D).

Wisconsin [5]
In the 1st congressional district, Rep. Paul Ryan [23] (R) was unopposed Tuesday, and Marge Krupp [24] beat out two other Democrats for the shot to challenge the incumbent. Most of the incumbents appear to be favored for victory in the general election, though freshman Rep. Steve Kagen [25] is facing a rematch of the 2006 election: he narrowly defeated Republican John Gard [26] in that contest.

Here are the victors of Minnesota [4]’s primaries:

• Sen. Norm Coleman [15] (R) is being challenged by Al Franken [14], an actor/comedian and former radio host.
• In the 1st district, Democratic incumbent Rep. Timothy Walz [20] is facing Brian Davis [19] (R), an oncologist.
• In the 2nd district, incumbent Rep. John Kline [29], a Republican, is up against Steve Sarvi [30] (D), Victoria, MN, city manager.
• In the 3rd district, incumbent Rep. Jim Ramstad [18] (R) is retiring. Democrat Jigar Madia [31], a lawyer and Iraq War veteran, will run against Erik Paulsen [17] (R), a state lawmaker.
• In the 4th district, incumbent Rep. Betty McCollum [32] (D) is facing Republican Edward Matthews [33], a certified public accountant.
• In the 5th district, incumbent Rep. Keith Ellison [34], a Democrat, is running against Barb Davis White [35] (R), a pastor.
• In the 6th district, incumbent Rep. Michele Bachmann [21] (R) is being challenged by Democrat Elwyn Tinklenberg [22], the president of a consulting firm.
• In the 7th district, Democratic incumbent Rep. Collin Peterson [36] is running against Glen Menze [37], a Republican, who owns his own consulting firm.
• In the 8th district, incumbent Rep. Jim Oberstar [38] (D) will face Republican nominee Michael Cummins [39], a business owner and project manager.

Here are the victors of Wisconsin [5]’s primaries:

• In the 1st district, Republican incumbent Rep. Paul Ryan [23] will run against Marge Krupp [24] (D), a chemical engineer and businesswoman.
• In the 2nd district, incumbent Rep. Tammy Baldwin [40] (D) is being challenger by Republican Peter Theron [41], a university professor.
• In the 3rd district, incumbent Rep. Ron Kind [42], a Democrat, is facing Paul Stark [43], who founded a construction company.
• In the 4th district, incumbent Rep. Gwen Moore [44] (D) faces no major-party opposition.
• In the 5th district, Republican incumbent Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner [45] is also unopposed by major-party candidates.
• In the 6th district, incumbent Rep. Tom Petri [46], a Republican, is running against retiree Roger Kittleson [47] (D).
• In the 7th district, incumbent Rep. Dave Obey [48] (D) will face Republican nominee Daniel Mielke [49], who is self-employed in agriculture.
• In the 8th district, incumbent Rep. Steve Kagen [25], a Democrat, is being challenged by John Gard [26], speaker of the Wisconsin Assembly.
