"Citizens for a Sound Economy [3] and Empower America [4] have merged to form FreedomWorks [5], a grass-roots advocacy and political group to bolster their fight for 'lower taxes, less government and more economic freedom,'" reports Judy Sarasohn. The new group will be co-chaired by Dick Armey [6], C. Boyden Gray [7] and Jack Kemp [8], with Matt Kibbe [9] as president. Freedom Works is "intended, in part, to challenge political liberal groups such as MoveOn.org [10] for voters this campaign season" and will engage in "lobbying, political fundraising and political activities, including voter education and get-out-the-vote efforts in key campaigns," according to Armey.
