Gasland [3], the documentary produced and directed by Josh Fox [4], is up for an Oscar [5] for Best Documentary in the Feature Category.

The film put the harms associated with natural gas drilling in the Marcellus Shale [6] in the national limelight and begat a propaganda [7] campaign by Energy in Depth [8] (EID). EID, for those who have not heard of it, is a pro-oil-and-gas drilling industry front group [9] formed by the American Petroleum Institute [10].

Like their "Debunking Gasland" campaign [11], thoroughly debunked [12] by Kevin Grandia [13] of DeSmogBlog [14] as an absurd misinformation [15] campaign, EID is at it again [16], this time in the form of an idiotic smear [17] campaign.

In response to the announcement of Gasland's appearance on the ballot, EID had this to say:

While it’s unfortunate there isn’t an Oscar category for propaganda, this nomination is fitting, as the Oscars are aimed at praising pure entertainment among Hollywood’s elite. Without doubt, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences nominated Gasland for its work in the field of art, not science.

Of course, those on the right side of this issue can see through the lies and know exactly who's propagating propaganda. Here's a hint, though, just in case: it's not Josh Fox.
